"flourish" abstract painting on paper, unframed
“Flourish” is a gestural painting and part of an enduring exploration of red and blue. Aspects of this piece seem to occur in much of my paintings since! This piece is originally 9x12” on paper and is on 11x14” mat board, unframed.
Something I have been exploring in my abstract pieces with a duality of shapes - how close can 2 distinct beings come to meet while still missing each other? How do our bubbles overlap? Can we really pop our own bubbles?
The name “Flourish” comes from a joyous interpretation of the quality of movement of the shapes. The tension feels more of a dance than a debate.
What dualities are in your mind?
